On Thursday, October 26, we premiered “A New Stellar Order” to a sold-out crowd in the Lecture Hall at Fleet Science Center. Prior to the show, our resident photographic artist Shawn Michael took portraits, including this one of Team TAO. The rest will be posted on our Facebook page.
Fleet Astronomer Dr. Lisa Will wowed the crowd with her informative and entertaining insights about the universe before the film began. Afterwards, Executive Producer Barbarella Fokos, film subject and artist Melissa Walter, and Dr. Lisa Will fielded questions from the audience.
This event sold out in a matter of day, so we are having an ENCORE! On Wednesday, November 15, we will be in the BIG DOME THEATER at Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park. So be sure to reserve your seats now, and join us as we screen the film and host a panel discussion about the overlap between art and science with Melissa Walter and astrophysicist Karin Sandstorm.
But that’s not all! THIS SATURDAY, November 4, you can see Melissa’s work at Art Above, an event hosted by 1805 Gallery on the rooftop of the Porto Vista Hotel in Little Italy.
And on Tuesday, November 7, we will be screening A New Stellar Order at UC Berkeley as part of the Department of Nuclear Engineering’s celebrations for Dark Matter Day. Melissa and our founder Chris Fessenden will be in attendance to take part in the discussion following the film screening, along with Dark Matter Scientists Karl van Bibber, Ph.D., Samantha Lewis, Maria Simanovskaia, and Al Kenny.
We hope to see you at one of our live events soon!
